The IrMaria bracelet recognizes the dual hurricanes Irma and Maria which devastated the U.S and British Virgin Islands in 2017. The 5mm band and hurricane symbols are made in sterling silver, with 5 14k balls as the hurricane eyes and accentuating details to symbolize the category 5 designation for each hurricane.
This piece was created to pay homage to the two Category 5 hurricanes that impacted the Virgin Islands in 2017. The first was Irma, who devastated St. Thomas, St. John, Water Island and the BVIs on September 8. The second was Maria, who devastated St. Croix and Puerto Rico just two weeks later. This was the first time in recorded history that all of these islands were impacted by two Category 5 hurricanes in such a short period of time.
